One Love

Last night was probably the most epic night in awhile. & again, it couldn't had happend with better people, y'know? Everything was just meant to be. Rootikal Riddim & The Ionz at Tropics. I don't know what it was, but everything was just 1000x sicker & stronger. The Ionz blew all of us away. For some reason, last night was just EPIC. Mason, Chayne, Keith, Alex, & I were all up in the front just feeding off their vibes. For the first time, I felt that they were feeding off of us, too. Between every little break, they gave shoutouts to us & said how it's all one love, y'know. I've seen Alex start getting comftorable at Dub shows, but last night, he was just feelin' the vibes all around. Like he said, The Ionz just sort of "grabbed" him. You had to be there to see how stoked he was, being that was the very first time he has ever heard their music & it was live. The Ionz ended up doing 3 hanahous, I believe. Just like what the drunk asian dude next to me said, "Can't deny the fans...can't deny fans.....ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTS!!!!!!!" Hahaha, funny shit, man. At the end of their last song, it wasn't us who stood there & waited for the chance to shake their hands & give thanks. It was them who came to us & gave thanks. That just shows straight up love. Love for coming out to vibe THEIR music all night. You wouldn't get that at some mainstream concert. Alex pointed that out & thats so true. At one point in the song, RastaBot was talking about how everything at that moment was Unity. That was sick, because it is all about Unity over there. There isn't any shady vibes there. Everyones out to feel the music, drink, whatever brings them there. But when the fans crowd around in the front & skank together, sing along together, that is Unity & it felt good to be a part of that.

On the way home, Chayne, Mason, & Alex just talked about The Ionz & what happend all night. I just sat upfront & sort of eavesdropped on the conversation. It got me smiling because everything they were talking about was true. About how everyone has their different perspective on reggae, but reggae is really all about peace & love. It's not about potheads & smoking weed. Alex was saying how reggae never was his thing, but he took the time to sit down & listen to it. I think everyone should do that same. I think my favorite thing I heard last night in the car was when Alex said he never wants to leave Hawaii. For whatever his reason is, whether it'd be the roots music, Manana, the people he met here, whatever...I just think thats sick that he wants to stay here, y'know. Because I'm one of those people, too. I never want to leave Hawaii & I don't think I ever will.

Last night, we all were pretty much high on life & I live for those moments.

Chayne: "Aye dude, were you stoned when you went in?"
Alex: "Nope. Dude, THEY made me stoned!!"
