I Man Feelin' So Irie

Just a few moments ago, I was on Google. Just trying to look at things a little deeper on the word "Irie" & trying to brainstorm on my tattoo (which has been obviously postponed). In a way, I'm glad it's taking longer to get it because now, I feel like I just kind of rushed the thought of that tattoo. "One Love, One Heart." I do like that, though. But I want a saying that will bring out the inner "me" & expresses how I live, how I think/feel about my outlook on life. I'm not necessarily going to get the word "Irie" tattooed on me, but I like the meaning of it.

Anyway, the real reason of this entry is about what I came across while reading about the word "Irie." I came across this other guy's blog & I guess he travels a lot. But what he wrote about in his blog was pretty dope, man. He wrote about his friend that recently came back from a trip to Jamaica. He said that his friend said that he got friendly with a bunch of locals in Jamaica. He said they taught him some Patoi, which is the local slang dialect. He said in Jamaica, there is no word for "bad." Whenever he asked someone how they were doing, they said Irie. He asked them what happends when everythings NOT Irie, & they couldn't come up with an answer. One of the locals told him that when it ISN'T Irie...it will be Irie soon, so they keep looking foward to that moment.

I thought that was the sickest shit I had ever read about someone's life or how people live in a different area. Guarantee that state of mind & nature just comes within their culture. I bet over there is so relaxed & mellow. Everyone's just at total peace with their state of being (Irie).

There's also another saying that relates to "Irie" in a way. It's "pura vida" & it comes from Costa Rica. Literally translated, it means "pure life," & I think thats fucking sick. It can also mean, "Purified Life," "Full of Life," & "This Is Living!" It's like an expression of lifestyle, I guess. I think that's so crazy, how one word or saying, can sum up one's own lifestyle.
